This artifact presents my research proposal, including my research question, method, and plan for analyzing sports highlight videos through a visual rhetoric lens. I included this artifact because it shows the development of my project from a broad interest in sports media to a focused study on short-form highlight videos on Instagram and TikTok. In this proposal, I define my research question and explain how I will use textual analysis to examine 10–15 sports highlight videos from sports media pages, professional teams, and athlete accounts. Readers should notice how I identify specific visual editing techniques—such as camera angles, slow motion, music, pacing, and text overlays—and explain how these elements contribute to shaping audience emotions and interpretations. This artifact demonstrates my ability to design a research approach and clearly explain how I will study visual rhetoric in sports media.
